CHARLOTTE CROP HUNGER WALK

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE

 

The Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk is expanding its team.  We are looking for individuals who have a passion for fighting hunger, can work collaboratively, are accountable for his/her responsibilities and are willing to take leadership role if needed.  If you feel you have these skills, we’d love to hear from you.

 

Below are descriptions of the available positions within each of our sub-teams.  Let us know how you would like to help.  Members meet monthly from April to October and are expected to work on Walk Day (October, 2012 date TBD).

 

Arrangement team members are needed to help with the Walk Day logistics and safety.  Responsibilities include:

  • Securing city permits
  • Contracting vendors
  • Planning pre- and post-walk entertainment
  • Connecting with Elizabeth Avenue merchants
  • Setting up route
  • Ensuring safety of walkers
  • Preparing and managing sub-team budget
  Qualified applicants should be:
  • Detailed oriented
  • Willing to do lifting and “get dirty”
  • Able to negotiate contracts with vendors

 

 

 


Publicity team members are needed to help promote the walk.  Responsibilities include:

  • Contacting local media
  • Writing press releases
  • Writing newsletters
  • Arranging interviews with television/radio stations
  • Coordinating media coverage on Walk day
  • Preparing and managing sub-team budget
  Qualified applicants should have:
  • Connections with local media
  • Strong writing skills
  • Background in print and television production

 

 

 

 

Sponsorship team members are needed to secure funds that help offset the costs of implementing the walk.  Responsibilities include:

  • Soliciting new and existing sponsors
  • Following up to secure funding
  • Cultivating relationship with new sponsors
  • Stewarding relationship with existing sponsors
  • Planning/coordinating sponsor luncheon
  • Preparing and managing sub-team budget
  Qualified applicants should have:
  • Strong contacts in business community
  • Be available to actively solicit new businesses
  • Strong writing skills

 

 

 

 

Recruitment team members are needed to enlist organizations to participate in the walk.  Responsibilities include:

  • Contacting existing organizations to secure participation
  • Working in the community to secure new walk teams
  • Serving as point-of-contact for recruiters
  • Training and educating team recruiters
  • Planning/coordinating recruiter training sessions
  • Preparing and managing sub-team budget
  Qualified applicants should be:
  • Detailed oriented
  • Confident making phone calls and following up with contacts
  • Willing to actively solicit new organizations

 

 

 

 

Walk Day Volunteer team members are needed to coordinate the activities on Walk Day.  Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting Walk Day volunteers
  • Assigning groups to properly fill need
  • Promoting community service opportunities in schools
  Qualified applicants should be:
  • Detailed oriented
  • Confident making phone calls and following up with contacts
  • Willing to actively solicit new organizations

 


 

 

Social Media team members are needed to promote the walk via electronic media and website.  Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing Facebook and Twitter sites
  • Serving as administrator for website
  • Researching and implementing new social media opportunities
  • Preparing and managing sub-team budget
  Qualified applicants should be:
  • Experienced in social media
  • On the cutting edge of technology
  • Creative in exploring other electronic
